A little poetry

Reverse Haiku--Relections on the Duck Pond on the South Side of Campus

The ducks, they are a'quacking,
I'm here thought-snacking,
My very own Walden Pond.

Any haikus/reverse haikus you want to share? Let's see what you've got.

The first Major cousin to get married...

Well, I guess we can't all be kids forever. The first grandkid/cousin of my dad's side (Amy) got married on Feb. 14! I imagine that the rest of us won't be far behind... I mean realistically, we're all in our 20's and 30's!

The whole family (almost) was able to make it out to the wedding in Salt Lake. Here are a few pictures!

Marci and I (at the rehearsal dinner).

The happy couple's first dance together.

A rare shot of my parents dancing! (happens mostly only at occasions like this or once in a while in the kitchen on holidays) They look cute together!

Anyhow, we're all very happy for Amy and Clint and the start of a new generation of the Majors!

Groundhog Day!

This was my first year officially celebrating Groundhog Day. It was great! Kara (whose 2nd favorite holiday of the year is Feb. 2) organized the party, which included a delicious dinner, an amazing cake, and a viewing of ... "Groundhog Day"!

My roomies getting the bread ready for dinner!

Here's the cake! Isn't it great?!

I have to admit, I think Groundhog Day is officially one of my favorite movies. Seriously, Bill Murray is great. A few of my favorite lines:

"Gosh, you're an upbeat lady!"
"Hey, are any of you up for adoption?"
"That's my favorite drink!" "Mine, too. It reminds my of Rome, the way the light falls on the buildings."
"Believe it or not, I studied 17th century French poetry." "What a waste of time! (Pause) I mean, for anyone else, it would be an incredible waste of time. It's so bold of you to choose that. You must be such a strong person."

I'm thinking celebrating the groundhog's weather-predicting abilities might have to become a yearly tradition! :-)
